Why This Exists
Hi, I'm Earl Coleman. I'm the son of Carolyn, the youngest child of Minnie Ola.
For the last fifteen years or so without really planning to, I've become something like the family's unofficial documentarian. I'm the one who always has a camera in hand at reunions, fish fries, cook-offs, whatever the occasion, quietly capturing the moments of family and fellowship that make us who we are.
At our most recent reunion in Atlanta, my cousin John Bailey stood up in front of everyone and challenged me directly to do something with all that footage, and find real, physical ways to keep this family's legacy going. That moment gave urgency to something I'd already been quietly building toward. This Strong Family Legacy project is my answer to that challenge and an invitation for us to help carry the legacy forward, together.

The Long View
What started as a man with a camera has grown into something much bigger: a full, living archive of the Strong family's history, past, present, and future. That means interviewing our elders and recording their stories before they're lost. It means gathering and preserving photos, documents, recipes, and keepsakes passed down through generations. It means going back through decades of past reunions and family gatherings to digitize and archive that history too. And it means building and maintaining the tools to hold all of it: this website, the archive itself, and everything we produce from it, now and for years still to come.
